Classes for religious education are held throughout the school year for students in kindergarten through eighth grade who do not attend Catholic School. Our parish has transitioned to a full family catechesis model rather than the traditional classroom model. Fr. Evans and our Coordinator of Religious Education, Sarah Campbell, know what a crucial role that the family plays in the spiritual lives of children, and they believe this model will help parents to pass on the Catholic faith that they desire for their children. The sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion are received in 2nd grade. To register for religious education, print and fill out the necessary forms found under "helpful links". Please turn the forms in to the parish office prior to classes beginning.
SPECIFICS
For the 24-25 school year, classes for kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grades will meet one Sunday a month from 9:00 until 10:15 am in the Holloway Center. This allows families to attend Mass at 8:00 before class or at 10:30 after class. Parents come for instruction with their children (parents will attend a class with other parents while children will be with their peers).
2nd grade will meet more frequently in preparation for First Holy Communion, as will the 7th and 8th grades for Confirmation classes.* These classes WILL NOT attend the family program as mentioned above. Second grade students will still meet from 9-10:15am, but more frequently than once a month. Seventh and eighth grade students will have class from 4-5:30pm on Sundays. Schedules for all three groups are found under "helpful links".
Classes begin September 8th, 2024. To register for religious education, print and fill out the form under "helpful links", then turn it in to the parish office. There is a registration fee for students. If the fee poses a difficulty for your family, please contact Sarah Campbell to discuss options.
*Students receiving sacraments this year must be eligible, meaning they must have the necessary previous sacraments and have regularly attended religious education the previous year. If your child is not eligible, but is in the corresponding grade level, please email Sarah Campbell to inquire about how to proceed.
